Innis is in complete command of his material and makes the reader feel almost seasick. An excellent sea adventure story by a master of the genre.

Far from being Innes' first dearr, it is his twentieth, published twenty years after the first, Air Disaster. Sands tries to get back to his own ship, the Sea Witch, and cannot because of the storm; Patch saves his life by pulling him back onto the Mary Deare.

Maybe that this pairing should have produced a more memorable piece? If you like the sea, boats, rough men, sabotage, mutiny, explosives, mystery, ships crashing into each other, honour, heroism - all with a dash of justice, I highly recommend The Wreck of the Mary Deare.
